Corporate HR Curriculum Redesign

Large-scale programme redesign for McDonald’s (UK & ROI)

About

This project involves the redesign of a large-scale corporate HR curriculum supporting managers across the UK and Ireland.

Due to confidentiality, detailed learning materials are not shown, but the section outlines the scope, approach and design considerations shaping the work.

Scope

The programme supports managers operating in fast-paced, high-volume environments, where HR decisions often need to be made under time pressure and with limited access to specialist support.

The redesign focuses on aligning HR learning with real operational contexts, ensuring managers understand not only policy requirements, but how to apply them appropriately in practice.

Challenge

The existing HR learning offer had evolved over time and required updating to ensure consistency and cohesion across management levels. Content sat across multiple courses and formats, but lacked a clear, connected learning journey.

As a result, managers did not always have a shared understanding of expectations, escalation routes or how different elements of the HR training related to real operational decisions.

Design Solution

The redesign centres on a structured, scenario-led curriculum that reflects the realities of operational management.

Key design considerations include:

  • Prioritising decision-making over information recall

  • Using realistic scenarios to explore risk, responsibility and escalation

  • Supporting consistency across regions while allowing for contextual nuance

  • Designing learning that fits around operational pressure

Status & Next Steps

The curriculum is currently in development, with phased rollout planned across management levels.

Ongoing work includes refinement of scenarios, stakeholder review, and alignment with organisational policy and legal frameworks.
